Wageningen Research Foundation comprises nine independent research institutes of which two (Wageningen Livestock Research and Wageningen Food Safety Research) are involved in SUSINCHAIN. Wageningen Research Foundation is a non-governmental, non-profit research organization. Research entails mainly field-based and application-oriented research for a wide range of clients, including international and national governmental bodies, companies and non-profit organizations. Wageningen Livestock Research (WLR) provides innovative and practical solutions for sustainable and profitable livestock farming. The Department Animal Nutrition conducts fundamental and application-oriented research on animal nutrition as well as knowledge transfer to government agencies, businesses, the primary animal nutrition sectors, societal institutions, NGOs and students. Wageningen Food Safety Research is specialized in detecting and identifying substances in food and animal feed, and determining the functionality and effects of those. Wageningen Food Safety Research is the Dutch National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for monitoring residues and contaminants in food and feed. It is also European Reference Laboratory (EURL) for specific analytical domains. The Agro-chain group of Wageningen Food Safety Research focuses on controlling food safety along the supply chain.
