Bugging Denmark (BD)
Bugging Denmark is an urban cricket farm working to utilize side streams from food producers as feed for crickets and adapt insect farming to an urban environment. Crickets take up very little space, thrive on a variety of feed sources and convert feed to biomass very efficiently. We therefore use crickets to enhance the use of circular economy in cities by feeding them spent grain from a local microbrewery, unsold bread from bakeries and apple pulp from cider production. We see cricket production as a natural part of the bioeconomy and, together with our partners, we promote edible insects as a sustainable protein source of the future though lectures, events, workshops and by producing a series of organic beverages named Bugs’N Shot.
